* explore the role, share experiences with peers, and gain practice thinking about college in a governance-related way *
Twilight training session with light finger-food e.g. sandwiches, nibbles, cakes as well as hot and cold drinks
Audience: New (and new-ish) Governors and Trustees
Objective 1: to understand more about the role of governor or trustee and the responsibilities that go with it, from a variety of views such as typical activities, working relationships and the legal context. Delivered through an excellent 'all you wanted to know but were afraid to ask' talk and guided discussion with the chance to ask questions, share with peers, and strengthen your governance mindset.
Objective 2: skills practice through case studies. Examine decisions and influencing factors that governors and trustees in the sector might typically face. Discuss and debate with fellow participants practicing your probing, challenging, analysing, evaluating and supporting skills using a set of case studies.
Led by Governance Professionals, with additional contributions of 'view from' a Principal and a Chair of Governors.
This event is suitable for both Trustees and Governors.
There may be a small charge to cover costs up to a maximum £40 per delegate, paid by booking college.
