New Teacher Programme (NTP) 2024-2025
This is the staff development package from the Wessex Group for those who are new to teaching - including ECTs, PGCEs, those who are new to the sixth form sector or new to this country. Attendees benefit from the structured sharing that comes from the formal group sessions as well as informal discussion through immediately being part of a network of like-minded individuals, who they are likely to meet again in their careers within and outside the Wessex Group of colleges. This network can be a great support group for them, especially in the early years. These sessions run in-person, depending on constraints and advice at the time.
Example topics
- Introduction to the NTP network
- Insight from recently qualified teacher(s)
- Effective assessment and feedback
- Coaching conversations
- Creating engagement
- Practical peer assessment
- Career pathways and interviews with experienced teachers showing a variety of career paths
Session 1 MONDAY 18th November - all day, lunch provided
Booking must be done via your college Staff Development Officer. It is useful to know of special diets, any accessibility needs, and an indication of your route into teaching/teaching experience. To this end participants will be asked to complete an on-boarding form to ensure we have these details captured and can make arrangements to suit.
Closing date is Friday, 11th October 2024. * Please book sooner rather than later. *
Joining instructions and confirmation of a place will take place soon after that date. The charge for the package of 4 sessions is around £90 per head.
