Student Governor Training
This two part course is for new or fairly new College Student Governors. Delegates will be covering a range of topics to help them fulfil their role of Student Governor and strengthen their ‘student voice’. It also creates an opportunity to meet students in similar situations and form a network for further sharing of ideas and experience beyond the structured sessions.
Session one:
- understand the formal framework, responsibilities and structures around Governance
- consider essential meeting skills: such as listening, asking questions and body language
Session two:
- delegates to explore their experience and provide opportunities to build their skills for engagement, leadership and governance in areas of their choosing
These topics will be led by specialist trainers Unloc, with additional contributions from experienced clerks and governors.
This course is suitable for delegates from all types of college governance structures.
Booking must be done via your college Staff Development Officer. It is useful to know of any dietary requirements and accessibility needs.
Joining instructions and confirmation of a place will take place soon after booking close date. Note, there will be a fee for this training course of between £60-£90 per delegate to cover costs, depending on uptake (this will be covered by participating colleges).
