“The digital buffet” - An exploratory workshop on Web 2.0 practices and tools in education

Time: 10 - 12

The focus for the session will be a showcase on a range of quick and user friendly digital tools that can be utilised in both IT based and non IT based classroom spaces. The session will prioritise the promotion of interactivity, learner engagement and productivity, and will enable the most basic user to “spice up” learning sessions for classrooms full of “digital natives”.

The session will explore:

  • The relevance of digital tools in today’s classroom, allowing for various levels of implementation across a range of different subject specialisms.
  • An exploration of how digital tools can enrich classroom sessions but go beyond this if required extending and flipping learning experiences.
  • A range of digital web 2.0 based tools ranging from individual, group based activities all the way up to whole class games focused on learning.
  • A showcase of how various digital and web based tools can simplify, organise and consolidate learning with ease and make the digital life of the practitioner easier but also more enriching for learners.
